SciVee supports up to 1 GB upload capacity, or approximately 1 hour of video typically.

If you have a video you want to make smaller, you are probably doing this for one of three reasons:

Case 1: You would like to make your video with the right width and height dimensions so that it is not distorted when you upload it.

Case 2: You would like to make the video file size under the 1 GB limitation so that you can upload it.

Case 3: You have a an original digital video file or another format that is very high quality and therefore has a very large file size and large dimensions.

Case 1 Solution:

If you have an existing video that you would like to change the dimensions, or resolution, there are a few good tools online that you can download to do this. If you want to try using MPEG Streamclip by SQUARED 5, just follow the directions on their website to download and install the software, then follow these steps:

1) Start MPEG Streamclip and from the main top menu choose File >> Open Files
2) Navigate to the video file you want to make smaller, choose it, and click Open
3) After the file appears open in MPEG Streamclip, from the main top menu choose File >> Export to MPEG-4
4) A dialog box will appear. Next to Compression, choose H.264 from the dropdown menu
5) Raise the quality setting to at least 80% if it is lower
6) For the frame size choose Other and from the dropdown menus choose 480 X 360
7) Click the "Make MP4" button on the lower right.

If you follow the above steps and are not happy with the way that the video looks, we recommend exporting a small clip of your video using different settings in MPEG Streamclip by adjusting the settings on the quality, turning on the "Better Downscaling" and/or "Frame blending" settings. If your video appears with horizontal lines during quick movements, it may need to be deinterlaced and you can turn on the "Deinterlace Video" to remove those artifacts from the video.

Case 2 Solution:
If you have an existing video that you would like to change the file size so that it is under the 1 GB limit, try using MPEG Streamclip by SQUARED 5, just follow the directions on their website to download and install the software, then follow these steps:

1) Start MPEG Streamclip and from the main top menu choose File >> Open Files
2) Navigate to the video file you want to make smaller, choose it, and click Open
3) After the file appears open in MPEG Streamclip, from the main top menu choose File >> Export to MPEG-4
4) A dialog box will appear. Next to Compression, choose H.264 from the dropdown menu
5) Adjust the quality setting to at least 80% if it is lower
6) For the frame size choose Other and from the dropdown menus choose 480 X 360
7) Click the "Make MP4" button on the lower right.

If you follow the above steps and the file is still too large, we recommend exporting a small clip of your video using different settings in MPEG Streamclip by lowering the settings on the quality.

Case 3 Solution:
Follow the steps for Case 2.
